This is the location for the filming of the movie “Shawshank Redemption”.
PPO rents out the entire facility that evening for our group only that evening. Our group receives access to areas not normally open during public tours. Bring your own models to photograph, or follow other photographers around to see how they photograph in the prison. Bring your own lighting of preference and wander around freely, just make sure it’s portable!

The Ohio State Reformatory is a massive three-level building built on a 40-acre lot. We are limited to about 50 photographers plus models. In 2021 and 2022, with photographers, assistants, and models, we had close to 200 attendees. That may seem like a lot of people but the facility is so large, you could wander around for an hour without seeing another person!
