Join PPO on a trip to The Wilds, a 10,000 acre conservation center in SE Ohio! Award-winning wildlife photographer Tom Welsh will host a morning session at Striker Hall at The Wilds to discuss how to shoot wildlife, the equipment used, the settings that bring the best results, and the software used for editing and the workflow to go from capture to final image! We will then have a provided lunch, followed by a photo safari tour. We’ll finish up the day working on retouching our wildlife images.

Since opening Tom Welsh Photography in 2007, he has been recognized multiple times by the Professional Photography community for excellence in capturing and creating images that inspire.
He has been awarded the Fuji Masterpiece Award for the best image in its category (Portrait) at annual print competitions held by affiliates of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). He has also received numerous “Merit” awards from the Professional Photographers of America and was recognized as a Silver Photographer of the Year in 2015. He has taught and presented workshops on lighting, exposure, posing as well as Photoshop and Lightroom techniques to professionals across Ohio.

More about the Day:
Class will start at 9 am at Straker Hall to learn how to photograph wildlife. This is the location to park for the day. It is a few miles away from The Wilds park entrance. The private address will be given prior to class.
Lunch is served at 11:30 am after class. There will be both meat and vegetarian options in this meal included in your registration.
We will head over to the park entrance at 11:45 am. It is recommended that we arrive 30 minutes early. Many of us can leave our vehicles at Straker Hall. Parking at The Wilds entrance is $8 per vehicle.
The tour begins at 12:30 pm. The bus is wheelchair accessible.
After photographing wildlife, we’ll head back to Straker Hall to learn how to retouch the images.
If you would like to get a bite to eat before going home and continue bonding with your photographer friends, there are fun local restaurants like Tom’s Ice Cream Bowl in nearby Zanesville or Theos with delicious pies in Cambridge.
